I didn't want to flash, and end up bricking it, because the LAN chipset wasn't supported. com/ Posted: Tue 3:55 Post subject: DD-WRT on Tenda AC18: After clearing the NVRAM and using the CFE server on my Tenda AC18 I was able to install DD-WRT. Was tempted to try flashing some DD-WRT firmware image for other Broadcom AC1200 hardware platforms, but according to the supported-devices DD-WRT Wiki, all of the other Broadcom AC1200 devices, all have gigabit LAN, whereas this unit has 10/100.

I'm hoping that these routers might get supported by third-party firmware, as they are Broadcom. Custom firmware, such as DD-WRT makes the process easier, and provides you with a lot of additional options as well thereby turning a standard 100 router into a super router that is suitable for any home or office. In fact, I haven't gotten them to work at all between two of these devices yet.Ĭame across something on the web, that a purchaser of these routers, flashed firmware from the Tenda web site, while it turned out that the firmware that shipped on the router was newer, and was not downloadable anywhere. Stock routers are limited, and getting the best setup and performance out of them can be very difficult. It is not meant to replace existing projects such as Tomato or DD-WRT, but rather to offer an alternative for people who prefer the original. While some features do get added, this is not the main focus of this project. Makes it really hard to use the "Universal Repeater" and "WDS" Modes. The goal of this project is to fix issues and bring some minor functionality adjustments to the original Asus firmware. Newegg had some refurb on their ebay site, for $19.99 FS, and for 24 hours, they have them on their main site, refurb, for $11.99.įirmware could be better, no way to shut off WAN port, unless you select "WISP Mode". Well, I ordered a bunch of Tenda FH1206 AC1200 "high power" routers. AC15 AC18 Setup: Tomato: Tomato RAF Advanced Tomato TomatoMLPPP: TotoLink 192.168.1.1.
